The outstanding feature of our house is the fantastic view of the beach and entrance to Waterford Harbour from Hook Head. Always something going on, a ship going in or out, children on the beach playing, kite surfing, a very colourful sight, or just the tide going in and out. At night Hook Lighthouse flashes across the house every 20 seconds or so. This is a place people come back to again and again.
There is fishing on all the beaches in the area and off all the local piers. Lug bait can be dug on Duncannon Beach. Good mackerel fishing at Slade harbour in August and September. Shopping is good in Waterford, Wexford and New Ross. J.F.K Park, about 7 miles away is great for a day out. Best history sites in the area are Duncannon Fort, Hook Lighthouse, Dunbrody Abbey and Tintern Abbey. Local boat and fishing trips available.
Closeby, there is an award winning restaurant where you can spoil your pallets with the most savoury delights. Central to Wexford and Waterford via Ballyhack / Passage East ferry, 6 golf courses within 10 miles on the Waterford side and 6 also on the Wexford side within 30 miles. Located 60 miles from Kilkenny or Carlow and 100 miles from Dublin and 35 miles to Rosslare Ferryport. Close also, is Waterford Airport, which is only 10 miles via Ferry.
