Mullawn Cottage | Description
Mullawn Cottage is located above the village of Hollywood in Co. Wicklow, the gateway to the Wicklow Mountains. Set in beautiful surroundings on the R756 Glendalough road, only 1 hours drive from Dublin. If you want peace, tranquility and beautiful scenery, this is the place for you, 15 minutes from Glendalough.
This cottage has two bedrooms, one downstairs with double bed, the other is a cosy loft bedroom with 2 single beds which can be used as a double bed also. The cottage is fully equipped with all mod-cons. This cottage has a magnificent view from the kitchen and bedroom windows. Very unusual cottage, with large granite rock built into the downstairs bedroom. Set in a beautiful location with breathtaking views of the Wicklow Mountains in a very peaceful quiet location. Bord Failte approved, 3 star grading.
Directions: From Hollywood village, Take the Glendalough road. About 4 miles from Hollywood you will pass over the Kings River Bridge, continue on and take the second turn left, up a by-road. About 1/4 mile up this road, turn to the left, down an avenue, you will see the cottage.
Local Attractions:
- Glendalough, the world-famous sixth century monastic settlement.
- Sally Gap, one of the two east-to-west passes across the Wicklow mountains, which passes above the dark waters of Lough Tay and Lough Dan. It also passes over the Luggala estate which forms part of the famed Wicklow way walking trail. The Sallygap leads down to Roundwood the highest village in Ireland.
- Powerscourt is situated 12 miles south of Dublin and is one of the worlds great gardens. The 18th century Palladian house now incorporates terrace cafe, house exhibition, interior gallery, garden pavilion and 18 hole golf course.
- Russborough is situated about 2 miles south of Blessington on the N81. The house contains paintings from the Beit Collection, fine furniture, tapestries, carpets, porcelain, silver and bronzes. Open during April on Sundays and the Bank Holiday. Open during May, June, July, August and September everyday.
- Mount Usher Gardens, These lovely gardens are laid out along the banks of the Vartry river at Ashford. They measure 20 acres and contain approx. 5,000 different species of plants and trees. This garden dates from approx 1860. There is a tea rooms, craft shop and other selective shops.
- Japanese Gardens/Irish National Stud, The Japanese Gardens were created to symbolise the Life of Man. St Fiachras Garden was created to celebrate the Millenium. The Irish National Stud contains a Horse Museum. These are situated outside Kildare town across the curragh.
- Horse Racing: Punchestown, Curragh, Naas, These famous race courses are only a short distance from Hollywood across the border in co. Kildare. The curragh race course is the headquarters of flat horse racing in Ireland with a history dating back to 3rd century. The classic Budweister Irish Derby is held here. Punchestown race week is in the last week in April.
