Peacock Cottage | Description

Peacock Cottage looks absolutely delightful with its thatched roof. Walls of mellow old stone and spacious garden. The cottage was built in 1709 and once provided accommodation for the famous Irish boxer Steve Collins, when he had a match in Millstreet.

It is now owned by Sheila Cotter whose family have been farmers for five generations - there are plenty of farm animals on view, including mares and foals, cows, calves, and poultry.

Inside, this top quality self-catering cottage has been beautifully furnished and enjoys a 4 star rating from Bord Failte. There is a dining room, sitting room, kitchen with electric cooker, fridge freezer, washer and dryer, an en suite bathroom, 2 double bedrooms, and 4 singles. A cot is available on request.

Guests have the use of the tennis court within the grounds and there is fishing close by on the River Blackwater. An 18-hole golf course is just a couple of miles away; lake fishing just a little further and horse riding can be arranged.

Mallow racecourse is a 10 minute drive away and the major tourist attractions of Cork, Killarney, and Blarney about 30 minutes by car. Places of interest in the locality include Kanturk Castle, Doneraile Park, Annsgrove Gardens and Millstreet Counrty Park.

The cottage has gas heating and is charged by meter reading.
