The Gate Lodge is a charming, two hundred year old cut stone building which has been beautifully restored. It is situated in the heart of East Clare just off the main Ennis - Kilkee road and a thirty minute drive from Shannon Airport, Killaloe, Ennis and Limerick.

It sleeps four and has one double room with en-suite and a twin room next to the main bathroom. Situated in a quite countryside where bird song greets you in the morning.

A string of lakes embrace the locality, including Kilgery Lake, Lough Bridget and Doon Lake - A dream for the fishing enthusist.

As it is on the route of the East Clare walks one can take a trip through country lanes and boreens to discover the secretive landscape of County Clare. Local villages like Tulla and Feakle are famous for their Ceile music and annual festivals.

Quin with its 14th century abbey, riverside walk and picnic area is well worth a visit while on route to Bunratty and Craggaunowen. When visiting Killaloe, stop off in the village of Tuamgraney and visit the East Clare heritage centre in St. Cronans church - The oldest church in continious use in Ireland or Great Britian.

Admire the beauty of Lough Derg and the rolling hills of Ogonnelloe before entering Killaloe and Ballina. While in the harbour village of Mountshannon take a boat trip to Holy Island which has a famous monastic site.

For other day trips visit the Cliff of Moher, The Burren and the beautiful beaches along the west coast of Clare.
